bleh

roommate issues... one of my roommates is constantly taking advantage of me and my kindness. i need to put my foot down, and as my (only female) roommate says, "be assertive". if he asks me to help him with something, i am allowed to say no if i am busy.
this applies to the other guy, too, who asks me last minute for help moving something when he had helped me before - he didn't make it a condition of having helped me, but says, "i helped you so i expect you'll help me". not fair, i think, especially to ask me last minute when i have other things going on. ... so i just stood up to the guy, and he seems really disappointed - i said, "i cannot help you today, but i can tomorow." and he said, "well, ok, i guess i will try to get it over here then..." like i am supposed to feel guilty.. and i recall the conversation M & i had regarding annoyance and how we'll do anything to keep people from being annoyed at us because THAT'S THE WORST and i decided - TOO BAD, my roommate's annoyance is HIS PROBLEM because *he* is the one who waited til the last minute to ask my help. so it's not my responsibility, how he feels.

dust in the wind

i was at the post office. i got my mail from my PO box and sat in the car for a few minutes looking it over. my window was cracked, and i was listening on my CD player to "dust in the wind" by kansas. there was a guy standing outside the car next to me. he looked like he was just standing there; i didn't see anything in particular that he was paying attention to.
halfway through the song, i began to drive away. the man swayed a little, mouthed something - i could tell now he was swaying to the music, and mouthing the words - and as i drove away, he got into his car, looking a little disappointed (and my interpretation was that it was due to losing the cool music).

Lately

My life has been very involved with taking care of my five month old baby, but I've started to have a little bit more free time. I'm looking forward to getting started blogging again soon!
